Eden on Fire

Live Performance Case Study

Eden on Fire is a fantastic example of how to make the most out of your images as an artist.

A musician performs at a keyboard on stage in dark lighting with dramatic blue and red stage lights.

The Moment (Why They Were Photographed)

Eden on Fire wasn’t the original client for this event—they were the opening act for a larger show. But from the moment they hit the stage, their energy was too good not to capture.

There was no planning, no creative brief, no shot list. Just:

➡️ A band showing up fully in their element

➡️ A crowd already buzzing

➡️ A performance that deserved to be documented

They needed nothing more than a photographer who could jump in, read the room, and catch the realness of their set. And that’s exactly what we did.

Shot List & Key Concepts

Instead of the usual pre-session mapping, this was pure documentary-style coverage:

  • Following the energy of the music
  • Picking up on lighting shifts and crowd reactions
  • Shooting fast, instinctively, and intentionally
  • Highlighting big moments as they unfolded
  • Every frame was captured in the chaos, color, and movement of a real live set.

Location & Styling

Primary Location: Her home studio in the Garfield neighborhood (aka the coziest one-car-garage-sized workspace ever).

Additional Highlight: Time spent firing the wood kiln in Smicksburg—an essential chapter in her creative process.

Wardrobe stayed comfortable and neutral to complement clay tones while allowing her artistry to take center stage.

Lauryn did a spectacular job capturing our live performance. Every single photo looks extremely professional and worthy of our EPK.  We couldn't be happier with her work.

The Final Results

Even though this wasn’t a planned shoot, [BAND NAME] absolutely ran with the images.

They used the photos for:

  • Social media
  • Promo graphics
  • Future show announcements
  • Press features
  • Teasing a new band member.

And the best part? The images helped them show up online with the same energy they brought to the stage. Their fans loved it. Their engagement spiked. And their visuals suddenly matched the power of their live performance.

Sometimes the best sessions are the ones that weren’t sessions at all.
